Adios,Enrico

My 16 year old daughter and I spent a week studying with Irma and Eva, and we could not be more pleased with our experience. Flores is a lovely location, and Dos Mundos offers a friendly and effective program. Visiting the orphanage was one of the highlights of our whole trip. We were only sorry that we only had a week to spend there!

As a high school teacher, I brought 10 students down to Flores for a week. We had an amazing time - home stays, delicious food and beverages at Cafe Yax-ha, volunteer work (especially the orphanage!), language classes (which the students actually enjoyed!), adventure outings, and swimming in the lake. Annie, Dieter and Eva are a joy to work with and are full of helpful information on almost any topic. Thanks for an amazing stay! Tess

Hola, Anne, Dieter, Eva y todo el staff de Dos Mundos. Me han regalado una dulce vacaciones-estudio como dulce es Flores y la gente de Guatemala. Muchas gracias. Me gustaria regresar a Flores... Spero que ustedes hayan pasado una buena fiesta dela Navidad! Afectuosamente, Martia.

We most certainly did enjoy our time in Flores and plan to be back. Dieter is great fun and makes the best espresso. The two of you have set up what has been the best learning experience we have had to date. You have a well planned, progressive curriculum and very competent instructors; Sofia and Eva were fantastic.

hi, we had a great time in flores, learning espanol con eva and it helped us a lot to get through guatemala and central america and to get more and more in contact to the people.... Our Spanish still is not perfect at all and we are learning every day new things and visit new classes..- but flores was our first spanish lesson and we are lucky, we found this place called Dos Mundos.

Hi there! I am having a gorgeous time in Flores. After having taken one week of Spanish at the language school Dos Mundos, I have become familiar with the grammatical and vocabulary basics enabling me to talk to the locals on and around the island. My teacher “Paqui” was a very modern, open minded person who could also teach me a lot about the daily life of women in Guatemala and the actual political situation here. During the afternoons and nights I went out with the other students to explore the surrounding area. We had a great time at the street festivals on the island where we also got to know a group of locals, which accompanied us during daily activities as well. There are so many places to visit around Flores that the biggest problem I had to face was to choose from the various options. I can definitely recommend the island to anybody planning a stay in Latin America.

Hallo there! I had a lovely time on Flores learning to speak Spanish with Dos Mundos. My teacher Andrea was very patient and an excellent teacher and fun too! We had the opportunity to meet some of the elderly people and kids who are in care there and they and staff that we met during our time at Dos Mundos, they were so welcoming and friendly. I would love to come back and visit everyone there again in the future and I recommend visiting such a beautiful setting for learning spanish and meeting good people..: )

Refreshing my spanish a week in Flores was the first part of my journey through Guatemala and Honduras - and it was a good choice! Travelling is so much more fun, if you can really talk to the locals - and you can practice it it Flores so often, because there are many people who don't speak English at all. And so why going to a language course to Antigua, where it is crowded of tourists and raining all the afternoons...?I really enjoyed my weak in Flores / San Miguel - the people are so friendly (even if your spanish is not working during the first time!), it is very safe and there are lots of posibilities for your leisure time (mayan sites, swimming in the lake, dancing - or doing a tour with your host family as did I with my host sister :-)So, thanks for the great time, I really enjoyed the time in Flores and it was a good experience to live with a "real" guatemalan family!

I did not come to Flores specifically looking for volunteer work but with the Spanish school I found an interesting way to spend a few days, once I arrived. Among a variety of activities, I was able to do several days at a government-sponsored nursing home built for people whose families have abandoned them.
The official name of the home is the Asociación Civil Dulce Refugio Ministerio de Ancianos Viviendo por Fé, and their funding allows them to give medical care, food, and housing to the near 50 residents who live on site. The limited resources make it difficult for the workers to give the residents all the one-on-one social time that is necessary. They rely on volunteer work for these intangible necessities. The work I did was varied: I spent most of my time talking to the residents but I also swept and mopped floors, and was even asked to shave one of the residents. One of the residents loves to play the guitar. He and I jammed a few times, though our musical tastes are different; he played "alabanzas" (religious songs) and I played classic rock.

Flores is an enchanting little island. Who knew it would grow on me so much. The people are amazing and the culture is so rich. This is a great place to study and practice Spanish. As a future Spanish major in college, I believe staying a month in Flores was an excellent experience for me. I learned to understand more and hopefully my experience in Guatemala will make my studies easier. Espero que pueda volver muy pronto! :)

Our experience in Guatemala was fantastic and thanks to all of you, our desire to learn some Spanish was achieved. We were very impressed with our tutor Anabella and her ability to simplify the grammar and help us to try to put it to use.
Our visit to Tikal was awe inspiring and we explored the Mayan site at sunset and again before sunrise the next day. We will never forget the experience!!

Thank you for 2 amazing weeks in Flores! I enjoyed my Spanish lessons a lot and was able to use what I've learned in the following weeks of my trip which was super helpful. Brenda was a great teacher and I really enjoyed my time with her. Flores is a beautiful spot to spend an extended amount of time. There is lots to do and explore and the atmosphere and the people there are just wonderful. I am planning on coming back....
Hasta luego!

Hey!
